Colorado still the least obese state and No. 1 in physical activity

DENVER — Colorado is the eighth healthiest state according to United Health Foundation’s annual health rankings, released today. The index ranks Colorado as the least obese state, No. 1 in physicial activity and second lowest in diabetes prevalence.

Gov. John Hickelooper said, "It's no surprise that Colorado retained its No. 1 ranking as the least obese state in the nation. With our abundant year-round outdoor recreation opportunities, it’s natural that Coloradans also rank first in physical activity.”

This Public Health Safer-at-Home Plan is being issued to continue to limit the health impacts of COVID-19. This Plan implements measures to allow Limited re-opening of certain industries and businesses in Saguache County while maintaining sustainable levels of social distancing. This Plan continues social distancing requirements for all residents and Stay-at-Home requirements for vulnerable populations pursuant to Executive Order D 2020 017. This plan is effective within the entirety of Saguache Co1.U1ty, including all cities and towns within the County.

In an effort to slow the potential spread of COVID-19 in our community, Saguache County government will have limited access to buildings beginning Monday, April 27, 2020.  In an effort to move forward with our job duties, a decision was made to begin integrating the public back into the county sector.  Staff will be providing limited essential services via phone and online avenues. In-person contact for receiving essential services will have limited restrictions during this time. These adjustments to county services and public access will be in place until further notice.

The disaster emergency declared in and for the County of Saguache, Colorado, beginning on March 14, 2020 is in effect until further notice by consent of the BOCC.

BAT TESTED POSITIVE FOR RABIES

SAGUACHE COUNTY – A bat found by a resident of Saguache County tested positive for rabies this week. Fortunately, the individual was able to contact local public health and have the animal tested before any persons were exposed to the deadly virus.   “We want to remind the public to protect themselves and their animals, and emphasize the importance of reporting animals that may have been exposed to a rabid animal or that may be showing signs of rabies, such as unusual behavior,” said Samantha Escobedo, SLV Regional Epidemiologist.

FOURTH AMENDED STANDING PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER RELATING TO NON­RESIDENTS (INCLUDING NON-RESIDENT HOMEOWNERS) AND IMPOSING ISOLATION OR QUARANTINE FOR THOSE WHO TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF SAGUACHE COUNTY.

THIS ORDER SUPERSEDES ANY AND ALL PREVIOUS ORDERS ISSUED BY SAGUACHE COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH. EFFECTIVE APRIL 8th, 2020.

Pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat.§ 25-1-506 and other applicable authority, this Order sets forth guidance and requirements for, as well as limitations on, group gatherings to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The purpose of these amendments is to amend and clarify the existing Order in response to inquiries received from elected officials and the public, and to expand protection for At Risk Persons (as defined in this Order). For the avoidance of doubt, this Order should be construed to eliminate all non-essential services or non-essential sales of goods, and should be construed in the light most favorable to preventing the community spread of COVID-19.

On March 10, 2020, the Governor of Colorado declared a state of Emergency related to the presence of COVID-19 in the State. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has confirmed that COVID-19 continues to spread throughout the State of Colorado.
