January 27, 2021 - Saguache County COVID-19 Vaccination Update:
Yesterday, Saguache County Public Health administered 90 COVID-19 vaccinations to first responders and county residents age 70 and above. Saguache County Public Health have immunized a total of 551 people with their first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. These individuals have also been scheduled to receive a second dose.We are currently authorized to provide vaccinations to high- and moderate-risk health care workers, first responders, and individuals age 70 and above. Out of necessity of using time sensitive doses, there have been a few instances where people outside of these groups have received the vaccine. We will not let one dose go to waste. The benefits of immunizing the community as quickly as possible far outweighs delaying until everything is perfect.Individuals age 70 and above who are interested in receiving a vaccine may call: 719-655-2533 or sign up online: bit.ly/saguache-vaccine-reg. This will put you on a list to receive information as it becomes available. This is not a guarantee for a vaccine, but does help us gather information and plan.We will get a vaccination to everyone who wants one; however, this will take time.
